Grown your own vegan leather!
09/08/2018 14:00 to 09/08/2018 16:30 (Europe/Brussels)
During this workshop you will learn how to work with vegan leather. You will learn how to grow your own leather using plant based ingredients and you will gain insight in methods to process the material. At the end of the workshop, you can take home your own starter culture, with which you can continue growing leather.
You will learn how to design accessories and even clothing with the leather. We will share design and processing methods that you can use to unleash your creativity.
No foreknowledge is required for this workshop. The workshop will be taught in English, but the teacher is native Dutch speaking. After the workshop, you will get a step by step guide for growing your own vegan leather using kombucha.
Niek D’Hondt of Glimps and ReaGent will be your workshop host. Glimps is a design agency and cooperative in biofabrication and shares knowledge in the field of biomaterials. They help companies to valorise their waste streams or bring products to market, using biomaterial technologies. ReaGent is a shared work and meeting place for people with an interest in (bio) sciences, sustainability, education and technology. Together with Glimps and other organisations, they organise workshops in their lab or on location.
